More Pin Keeps – Shabby Chic Style

I have been busy working on projects to post here but I keep getting to the end of a project with only the finishing touches to do, and I get hung up trying to figure out how I want to finish it.  Well, that and also I am keeping up with my fave program, “Sons of Anarchy” lol and also reading “Fifty Shades of Grey” OMGosh! lol  In case any of you have read that trilogy and loved it, you might want to see if you can find copies of “Man with a Maid” by Anonymous.  It is very similar to Shades and was written a few centuries ago.  It may no longer be in print.  I know I bought my copy back when I was in my late teens early adulthood, and my copies are falling apart because I've had them so long! ROFL

Anyway, back to the crafts gals! J

I Won Another Drawing!!

Wow, that’s two drawings I have won since I started my blog back in August and started visiting other blogs!

The First was my winnings from Tiaras and Bowties via Thirty-One!

This time the drawing was hosted by South ShoreDecorating Blog via One King’s Lane

So, I won a $100 gift certificate to spend any way I wanted at the One King’s Lane online store.  They have a bunch of one of a kind and unique items in addition to new items.  From cloth napkins to 18th century armoires and pretty much everything in between!  You should really check them out!

Here is what I ordered:

FREE Graphic Monday (a day late!)

Good Morning!  Sorry I got sidetracked yesterday or you would have had these nice graphics yesterday.  These are from the 1920 Corticelli Lessons in Crochet Booklet Number 13.  They would be free to use and copy write free since they were published prior to 1923 and would be in the public domain.

OMGosh Miniature Knitting!

Has it really been 10 days since my last post?  Wow, time flies!  Sorry about that yet again.

I just ran across this miniature knitting video and pattern from an upcoming movie and just had to share it.  I was so amazed with the concept.  I am in love with miniatures! <3

Hand Knitted Dish Cloths

I am SO sorry I have neglected my blog this long!  But I have been so busy working on projects (again about 4 simultaneously! lol).  I started a purse and decided to make at least 5 variations of it so it is taking awhile to get them all done.  I will blog the tutorial when they are done!  I promise!

Today I am going to share with you a knitting pattern I received from a friend decades ago that I still use today.  They are a simple and quick knitting project so they are fun to make and are easy enough for a beginning knitter who knows the basics.  It is especially fun when using variegated yarn because you don’t know what the pattern will turn out like!

Pin Keep aka Pin Cushion

Today I asked myself, "What goes better with a Needle Keep than a Pin Keep?"  Since I need one for myself anyway, I decided to make two; one for me and one to sell.

Needle Keep

I hope you’re having a great day so far because I am! The weather is mild and the windows are open letting a light breeze blow away the stagnant winter indoor air.  It smells so good!

Today I am going to show you how I made my Needle Keep:

Transfers and Seed Packets

NOTE: links in the post will not open in a new window or tab unless you right click them and tell them to.  Blogger isn't playing nicely with links today it seems!

How do you like my new background!?
I picked it up from “cute n cool”.
Don’t you just love it?  I do!
It's "da bomb" as my son would say! lol

I was able to get some more done on some of my projects.

Seed Box

Am I the only one who goes online to find graphics for a project and get lost in the  images to the point that you lose track of time?  I swear I’ve been trying to get images for an old seed box that I planned on “fixing up” for weeks! It turns out the box alone is worth close to $50 brand new and I only paid $4 at Goodwill!  Woohoo!

So it’s from Shakers Genuine Garden Seeds and they still sell them based on the vintage boxes they used to make back in the day.

So once I figured out it was a real company that is still in business I went searching for what their seed packets look like. Turns out they are very easy to duplicate. Here is an example:

Baby Bed Progress

WOW! I am SO sorry I haven’t posted in awhile. Especially since I just started this! But we went out of town for a few days plus Sweetie is off work for 12 days so he’s been keeping me pretty busy. Spending time with the one you love has to come first I think.

Anyway, I haven’t gotten a lot done but I did do some work on the baby bed and I hope to get more done today so that I can post it tomorrow.

Here is my progress so far:

I had planned on asking you guys which graphic I should use on the bed but…..

Current Projects

I have gotten into the habit of prowling the local thrift stores. I must say I am surprised at the prices in some of them!  They must think their junk is made of gold based on the prices they are asking now-a-days. I can remember you could pick up stray vases and other glass pieces for .25 or .50 cents each.  Now they are asking $3 and $4 or more!

But I digress (and I do all the time so please forgive me in advance.) **eye roll**

Anyway, I have found several lovely pieces that I see great potential in and have started working on a couple of them. Since I only started this blog a couple days ago, I don't have before pictures for all of them but I will explain what I have done with them so far.

What I'm about

I recently became aware of the practice of “up cycling” old and unwanted clothing and items.  That will be my main topic of this blog.   But in addition to that, I will be sharing with you other people’s work, with credits, that inspire me.

Yesterday I shared the link to my very favorite blogger I have run across so far.  She, with help from her MR, is turning her whole home into a romantic shabby chic masterpiece.  It is gorgeous and I wish I had the money to hire her [although I don't think she has time to do more than she already is.]

She is my shabby chic idol! J

My first blog post!!!!! OMG

Wow, am I really doing this?  Me a blogger?  This is just way too cool.  I will try to actually post my first REAL blog post later tonight or tomorrow!  I'm too ADD/OCD (not really but kinda) to type freeform.  I have to type it out and then edit first... and edit and edit and edit some more! LOL
