My Adventures In Quilting Part 4

New update for my quilt! I have it pinned and basted and I'm now quilting it!  Yay!  I only have this pic of it so far. The thing is so HUGE though that I don't think I will have the patience to hand quilt the whole thing.  I think I will hand quilt the center (pictured below) and the sashes and all the solid blocks and machine quilt the log cabin squares.  We will have to see how long my hands hold out.  I have the beginnings of arthritis so there are some evenings that my hands just hurt to much to do any kind of crafts.  I go back to see my doctor next month and hopefully he will give me something to help with that.

I've been busy making template stencils.  This is a first for me so they aren't perfect but they will be close enough that I can follow them for the hand quilting. Which you can see I have done on the center of the quilt above.

I used the soldering tip of my cheapy wood burnishing tool and followed my outline to melt open spaces where I can mark through it onto my quilt with my disappearing ink pen.  It's working out great with the exception that the ink disappears faster than I can hand stitch! lol

And I started school a week ago today!  Woohoo!  Graphic Design too!  Maybe I will post here the graphics I design so that you can copy them!  I'm really enjoying it so far.  I just finished up my first week of assignments yesterday and I start on week 2 today.  I'm currently taking Art1000 Introduction to the Visual Arts which I will finish in another 4.5 weeks.  I will then start G150  Introduction to Design Applications.

Of course that means I can't be on here blogging as much or if I do it may only be pics with a short explanation.  But I will do my best so you don't forget me! lol

That's it for today!

Thanks for stopping by and Happy Crafting!

  2. Well, the hand stitching isn't very uniform but it's going faster than I thought it would! I can wait to finish it so I can show all of you! Thanks Megan!
